1. How Do Our Servers Work?

Our range of server products allows you to implement applications according to your individual requirements. We are managing the underlying infrastructure and hardware – you can configure your server based on your specific needs via the Server Control Panel (SCP).

Operating Systems

Our servers support a wide range of operating systems, including numerous Linux distributions and Microsoft Windows. You can host applications such as WordPress or Nextcloud, as well as set up your own gaming server.

Key Features

  • Various options regarding CPU, RAM, and storage
  • Easy and quick setup
  • Full VM root access
  • Ready-made operating system images for quick setup
  • Option to select the operating system after the initial setup or upload your own images and ISOs
  • Hosted on servers in our high-redundancy data centers
  • Minimum availability of 99.6 % (VPS) and 99.9 % (root server) per year
  • Easy-to-use control panel to monitor your virtual server
  • Console access directly via the control panel in the browser
  • DDoS protection with 2 Tbps
  • Snapshots (optional)

2. What Server Types Does netcup Offer?

We differentiate between vServers (VPS) and root servers. In regard to vServers, we offer servers based on both x86 and ARM architectures. Our vGPU servers are ideal for computing-intensive tasks. You can choose from different packages with fixed CPUs, memory, and RAM for all server types.

VPS

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual machine running on a physical server that enables users to use isolated server environments with their own operating system and applications. Compared to a dedicated server, several VPS users share the hardware resources of the physical server, with each VPS working independently and in isolation. This gives users a high degree of flexibility and control, similar to a dedicated server, but at a significantly lower cost. Our VPS are suitable for services such as web hosting, blogs, database management and smaller applications.

Root Servers

Our root servers combine the advantages of dedicated servers for optimum performance with the cost-saving features of virtualized servers. They are also virtualized, but unlike our vServers (VPS), they offer dedicated CPU cores and a better network connection. Root servers are therefore particularly suitable for operating game servers and are ideal for applications with high bandwidth requirements.

ARM Servers

Our vServers based on ARM architecture are known for their energy efficiency and high core density, making them ideal for a wide range of applications. Versatile uses include web hosting, software development, data processing and the use of container solutions, edge computing applications and other services.

Check whether the software you need is also available and compatible on ARM servers. There may be differences compared to x86 servers.

Hint Please note: The installation of Windows on ARM servers is currently not supported.

The installation of Windows on ARM servers is currently not supported.

vGPU Servers

Our vGPU servers are powerful root servers with dedicated vGPU performance. They are ideal for demanding workloads and compute-intensive tasks such as 3D rendering and visualization, AI inferencing, video processing, and data analysis.

4. Which Server Is the Best Fit for My Requirements?

To find the right server, first analyze the requirements of your application in detail: Does it require significant computing power, main memory, or fast storage space? What is the expected load? We recommend taking a look at the documentation for the software you want to use.

Our small VPS models (x86) are ideal for smaller projects or for getting started. They are particularly flexible because they can be ordered without a minimum contract term, which is ideal for testing and development. You can usually upgrade our small plans to a higher plan.

If you are interested in a root server or a VPS with ARM architecture, you can benefit from our 30-day satisfaction guarantee. This allows you to see whether the offer is right for you with no risk.

Our Customer Support team will be happy to help you choose the right server.
