Setting Up Your Own Nameservers (Existing Domains)

The netcup nameservers are configured by default. Learn how to set up your own nameservers.

These instructions apply to existing domains. For newly registered domains with CloudDNS, you can find the instructions at: Setting Up Your Own Nameservers (CloudDNS)

Before making changes to .de domains, check that your entries are configured according to DENIC requirements. You can use the following tool: Predelegation Check — DENIC (external link)

1. Getting Started

  1. Log in to the Customer Control Panel (CCP).
  2. Select the Domains menu item.
  3. Click the Magnifying Glass Icon next to the domain you want to edit.
  4. Go to the DNS tab.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the tab and select own nameserver from the drop-down menu.

2. Adding a Nameserver

Make sure you store redundant nameservers. Configure the nameservers so that they report back that they manage the domain.

 

  1. Click + additional nameserver.
  2. Enter the host name, as well as the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, if applicable. You can obtain this information from your nameserver provider.
  3. Click Save nameserver.

3. Activating DNSSEC (optional)

  1. Make sure your own nameserver is already set up.
  2. Click + New DNSSEC entry.
  3. Enter the public key, flags, and algorithm. You can obtain this information from your nameserver provider.
