Adding and Managing Service Plans
Learn how to add and manage service plans for your reseller web hosting.
1. What Are Service Plans?
Service plans are packages that you create. You specify which services customers should have access to as part of a subscription. You can also add on services to extend existing plans.
It is important to plan carefully how you want to structure your service plans before creating them. Please note that you must not exceed the limits of your reseller plan with a service plan. Otherwise, errors will occur when creating and assigning subscriptions to the respective service plan.
2. Creating Service Plans
- Go to the Service Plans menu item.
- Click on Add a Plan.
- Name the service plan.
- Make your desired settings. If you have any questions about specific permissions and their functions, we recommend consulting the Official Plesk Manual (external link).
- Confirm your settings by clicking OK.
- If nothing happens when you click OK, follow these steps:
- Open the Show more available resources section on the right-hand side.
- Uncheck the box next to Unlimited and try again.
- Note: The Web users setting determines how many users can log in at the same time.
Please note that you should not exceed the limits of your reseller plan in a service plan. Otherwise, you will receive a corresponding message when creating subscriptions.
In this case, the subscription values will be set to the maximum allowed by the plan and the subscription will not be synchronized with the service plan.
3. Managing Service Plans
Customize Service Plan
- Go to the Service Plans menu item.
- Click on the name of the desired service plan.
- Make your desired changes.
- Confirm by clicking on Update & Sync.
Remove Service Plan
- Go to the Service Plans menu item.
- Activate the checkbox in front of the desired service plan.
- Click on Remove.
- Confirm by clicking on Yes, remove.
4. Add-Ons
Add-ons are custom extensions of a service plan. The following example illustrates how to use an add-on correctly:
For example, if a customer has a subscription that allows 5 additional FTP users according to the service plan, but the customer needs a total of 10, you have the following options:
- You add 5 additional FTP users to the entire service plan (and thus to all subscriptions based on it).
- You manually modify the customer’s subscription using your reseller rights in the customer panel. However, this means the subscription will no longer be synchronized with the associated service plan, which is generally not a desirable situation.
- You can add the 5 FTP users as an add-on. As long as the add-on is assigned to the user, they will always have 5 more FTP users than allowed in the subscription.
Add an Add-On
- Go to the Service Plans menu item.
- Click on Add an Add-on.
- Configure your desired settings.
- Click on OK.
- Then assign the add-on to a subscription.
- To do so, select the desired subscription and click on Change plan/add-ons at the bottom right under Account.
