vServer Lite

A VPS (Virtual Private Server), also known as a vServer, is a virtual machine that is hosted on a physical server and allows users to utilize isolated server environments with their own operating systems and applications. VPSs offer flexibility and control similar to dedicated servers, but at an affordable price. They are ideal for users who need their own server but don't want the cost and management of a physical server.

A VPS offers numerous advantages, including flexibility, scalability, security and cost savings. You can scale your resources as needed, customize your environment and use isolated server environments for improved security. With a VPS, you can maintain control of your server environment without the cost and hassle of a dedicated server.

Both VPS (Virtual Private Server) and root servers are hosting solutions that give you access to your own virtual server.

The main difference lies in the underlying architecture and the type of deployment:

• VPS x86: Based on x86 architecture and 64-bit capable. Suitable for a wide range of applications
• VPS ARM: Based on the ARM architecture and also 64-bit capable. Particularly efficient for specialized workloads such as IoT applications, edge computing or resource-saving server applications.
• Root server: CPU power is exclusively available to the customer, making these systems particularly suitable for resource-intensive or specialized applications.

For all of these products, we recommend knowledge of the administration of server systems in order to be able to make optimum use of the possibilities.

VPS Lite plans are provided at European data center locations (Nuremberg, Vienna, Amsterdam) depending on availability. VPS pico G11s and VPS nano G11s are only available at the Nuremberg location.

Our VPS Lite offers are permanently cost-optimized and offer a particularly attractive price-performance ratio. Compared to the regular VPS plans, VPS Lite plans are characterized by reduced bandwidth and lower interface speed as well as SSD instead of NVMe storage. This allows us to offer these servers at a particularly attractive price - without compromising on stability and reliability.

Yes, you can expand your VPS Lite plans with Local Block Storage up to a maximum of 4 TB. This provides you with additional storage space for your data and applications to expand your performance and storage requirements. Expansion is not possible with the G11s generation (VPS piko, VPS nano).

Upgrading within a generation and tariff group (e.g. from VPS Lite 1 G12s to VPS Lite 2 G12s) is possible and can be carried out directly in the Customer Control Panel (CCP).

Switching to smaller plans, other generations (e.g. from VPS nano G11s to VPS Lite 1 G12s) or between tariff groups (e.g. from VPS Lite G12s to VPS 1000 G12) is not possible via an upgrade. In this case, please cancel your old tariff and order the desired new tariff. You can find more information about product upgrades here

netcup does not offer any ready-made Windows servers. However, you have the option of installing Windows on your server yourself via the SCP. Please note that this is a 180-day trial license. Beyond that, you cannot purchase Windows software licenses via netcup.

The following three options are available to you:

• IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity
• IPv6 connectivity
• Cloud vLAN only

No, you cannot change the location of your server retrospectively. Migration is only possible by placing a new order at the desired location and transferring all data manually.
